Inspiration Story:  

This piece was an truly a personal inspiration that was born in my sketchbook a VERY long time ago.  Years after inception I finally drew it onto a board, laid a wash down on it, and literally left it for like a year.   I kept it protected and  even moved with it, Later when the time was finally right I went back to finish it and gifted the original for a special friend's birthday.

I loved getting this proud snail "lit" onto paper!!!  This is part of my fascination with painting the effects of light and of course with the tiny creatures residing in the garden or forest.  Snails just have so much character and  I hope that I captured his delicate translucency on paper.
