The power of art

Hopefully a sense of positive energy is felt through much of the art that I am producing.  This is an important part of why I am so fulfilled in sharing my work.

The power of art to affect our mood and well being is very real and I secretly would love to paint portals into good vibe worlds that would fill everyone's homes and spaces.

I have always been enchanted by the intricate details of natural ecosystems.

When in nature, I am like a kid in a candy store and my art is an expression of this fascination.

My intent is to shine a light on the small details, ironies and relationships within nature just outside our everyday experience and inspire a sense of joy but also thoughtfulness for the world around us.

My journey...

I started painting and drawing as a child and all through high school. Although Illustration was my first love, I chose Graphic Design for college.

I later studied Digital Character Animation and this was followed by 20 years in the animation industry - 13 years that comprised of some supervisory roles and for a while I was a 3d Texture artist with main focus on characters.

This  fed my fascination with  substantive textures on living things and painting digitally.  I really met some of the absolute best people during those years  for which I am forever grateful.

Today...

It is fantastic to finally be able to be able to now peel back the layers of inspiration.

Today I am a Lead Steward with Toronto Nature Stewards and actively working on park-land in Toronto (Serena Gundy) to remove invasive plants and allow for the repopulation of indigenous plants and wildlife.

I am excited to be working in collaboration with an indigenous group that has familial ties to this park land in particular.

Bring Back the Salmon!

This Spring I hope to be part of the Bring Back the Salmon movement in Ontario.

Salmon are such an important part of our world on various levels. Duffins Creek near Pickering Ontario wil be one of the entry points for the release of young Salmon to help restore the Atlantic Salmon numbers in Canada.
